The Traps are a heavily forested region to the northeast of Ladoga. The forest sits atop ancient karst, and the area is riddled with caves. Occasionally these caves collapse under the weight of the trees above, creating sinkholes and pits. Foresters and animals alike can easily get stuck in one of these sinkholes, giving the area its name.
