Line 1: Line 1:
The Elector Barons are the nine noble families that followed Răscu Draşov into the west in 398, and were rewarded with titles and lands. While technically the Elector Barons are to convene once every ten years to choose a family from among themselves to take over as count, this has never happened. House Drașov has held the countship since their arrival in Olrau. Dunareanu.png

House Dunăreanu's seat is north of Castle Drașov, below the fork in the Răcit River. As the easternmost barony, House Dunăreanu has had the most contact with the Empire of Myrne since Drașov's Rebellion. Though prohibited by county law, it is not uncommon to see trade vessels from the east sailing the Răcit.

Gulesc.png

House Guleșc's holdings are south of Castle Drașov, along the banks of the Dokosa Sea. The people here survive mainly by fishing and woodcutting in the Beznă Forest.

Iliescu.png

House Iliescu controls and maintains the passes through the Ascuț Mountains. House Petran is utterly reliant on them to get their grain to the other baronies, a fact that Baron Iliescu mentions at every opportunity.

Livazea.png

House Livăzeă controls the hills between the Ascuț Mountains and the Beznă Forest. The people here are pastoralists, with few permanent settlements carved into isolated patches of greenery. House Livăzeă has strong ties with House Ursache, owing to a marriage between the families in 617.

Petran.png

House Petran controls the breadbasket of Olrau. Were it not for the fertile fields west of the Ascuț, many would starve. House Petran has frequent conflicts with House Iliescu over tolls through the mountains.

Stroes.png

House Stroeș sits between the Beznă Forest and the banks of the Dokosa Sea. House Stroeș is famed for its shipbuilding, and it was their ships that carried the people of Olrau west after Drașov's Rebellion. With little arable land, they are the largest importer of grain from House Petran.

Ulici.png

House Ulici controls the southernmost barony. They suffered from near constant raiding by the orc tribes on the frontier, until Count Osvalt Drașov's war of attrition. The people of House Ulici see themselves as the guardians of Olrau, and feel that it is their blood and sacrifice that protects the rest of the county.

Ursache.png

House Ursache holds the smallest barony, a hilly land between the holdings of House Văduva and House Dunareanu. House Ursache led an attack on House Dunăreanu in 611 after it began harboring evangelists from the Ecclesiarchy, besieging Castle Dunăreanu itself in 614. Baron Ursache was killed in the siege, and Count Livăzeă was quick to negotiate a marriage to unite the weak two houses. With help from Count Livăzeă, House Ursache's war was successful. Count Dunareanu was captured and executed, and the Ecclesiarchy was expelled from Olrau.

Vaduva.png

House Văduva owns the plains north of Castle Drașov. Its warriors are renowned horsemen, and it was they who repelled an attack by raiders from the northern steppes in 531.
